I love the first day of the year, it is a great day to make plans for the year and I’m not talking about New Year’s resolutions. It’s a great time to get focused on your life and what you want in the coming months, what you want to accomplish.
A year passes quickly and in no time at all those months will have chugged by so taking action now is essential if we are going to make that time work for us. Setting ourselves up with a few good habits that we can continue, good habits that will improve our health and general wellbeing.
It’s easy to let things slip at bit towards the end of the year with all the Christmas preparations and parties, but now is the time to grab hold of life again and get back in the routine of those good habits. Straying a bit isn’t a problem as long as we pick up where we left off.
The first day of the year is often full of hope and enthusiasm, we are generally more motivated as we have the chance of a new beginning, sometimes that motivation can wear a bit thin by the end of January and we don’t feel we are making any progress in the areas of our lives we are trying to change. Change doesn’t happen overnight we have to work at it and have faith that those little steps we are taking every day in the end will accumulate and make a difference.
It is a lot easier to add good habits gradually and step by step, one day at a time, if we try too much too soon we will get fed up and it may all come crashing down, so let’s start with one or two good habit at a time. One habit I have let slip is writing a dream journal this is really an excellent habit to get into and has many benefits, it can help you focus and also enhance your connection to the inner you, so this is one good habit that I am re-starting.
What good habits will you be starting this year?
